What is Gastroparesis?
Gastroparesis is a digestive
motility disorder where the vagus nerve is damaged and the muscles of the stomach and intestines do nor work thus
become paralyzed. This condition further delays food emptying from the stomach and intestines which results in
serious complications and further gastrointestinal problems. 1 out of every 2 diabetics will develop Gastroparesis. This
is 50 percent of all patients.
-Estimated number of Gastroparesis patients in the United States is over 5 million.
*Idiopathic Gastroparesis has no
known cause however many tests can be run but the end result is still no known origin on why the stomach and intestines do
not function properly.
