Topic: A Patients Right.
To those of you who follow my journey, continue following from The Gastroparesis Awareness Campaign blog or have been part of Jenn & Coty taking over the VIP podcast...
My surgeons were unable to perform this past surgery. The reason being, due to further decline with my health.
The morning of my surgery, I was already up since 3am with vomiting and overwhelming pain. The decision was made for me, by my specialists. My body was not ready to endure another surgery on that day. Intestinal blockages are part of the risks with my largest tumor pressing up, down on surrounding organs. We now wait to see what new imaging scheduled for tomorrow will show my specialists. For now, they rescheduled the second part of surgery for the first week of June.
I rarely, as of now, get out of the house while dealing with round the clock pain. As well, my body trying to get used to high doses of pain medication and other drugs to keep me from further complications.
I have been doing everything to keep my life as peaceful as possible. I have learned with great trauma therapy, that you sometimes just have to tune people out. Especially those who don't respect what I am going through or just refuse to understand. Lack of compassion...❤
I am now in this new phase of my journey. With it, comes all the unpredictability. Some days, it can be quite scary. I am on monthly video meetings, appointments with not just my surgeons, but as well hospital pain management who continue to remain alongside with me. We are almost to the point of just the right combination of drugs. What I now need to take for the daily pain.
My life is far different than it was just last month. Even, last week. This journey has brought with it, a great deal of knowledge. I hope to continue sharing my experiences with others who are bravely battling their own medical journey.
At the end of the day, you must remember... it is your life. It is your journey. You are entitled to make decisions with regards to not only your health. But as well, who will be with you during your last breath.
A patient's legal right.
